Mod Podge

What is Mod Podge?  It's this wonderful all-in-one glue, sealer and finisher that can be put on just about anything.  My love for all things made with Mod Podge began at an early age - my mom loved to decoupage just about anything.  She made these wonderful wooden chests with pictures covering the entire box, that you could fill with memories.  She also made photo albums by decoupaging printed paper napkins onto a photo album.  Sounds crazy, but decoupage can turn an ugly dollar store photo album into a beautiful handmade masterpiece.

So, I decided that I really wanted to start making some crafts with Mod Podge.  My first idea was to use paper napkins and photo frames...real original, right?  (Thanks, Mom!) I bought these beautiful Lilly Pulitzer cocktail napkins to do the project, and used white Lilly Pulitzer frames that I got for free at the sale.

The first step in this project is peeling away the layers of the napkin.  All you want is the one printed layer, not the many layers of white napkin attached.  You have to be very careful not to make holes in the napkin.  Next step is to cut the napkins into sections that will fit each side.  I cut 2 long pieces and two shorter pieces, because I had a 5"x7" frame.  Once you have your pieces, paint on some Mod Podge onto the frame, then carefully place the napkin onto the frame.  Let it dry a little, and then you will paint over top of the napkin as well.  Once you have covered the whole frame, it should look something like this:
It came out so pretty!!!
Once its all dry, put a picture in it and voila! You have your very own Lilly Pulitzer frame, (for only a couple of bucks!!)
