Artwork

I have recently become Pinterest obsessed.  Most of the "pins" that involve artwork or homemade gifts to buy on Etsy, I seem to think I could make for myself.  My first attempt at making an Etsy craft myself came this weekend, when I decided to make a canvas. It looked like this:

This looked easy enough to make... The supplies I bought were:
  • 12"x12" canvas
  • Painters tape
  • Acrylic Paint
  • 1 Piece of Felt
  • Buttons
  • Vinyl Letters
  • Finishing Spray
The first step is marking out the lines.  I made the lines slightly less than 1 3/4". After marking them, I did it by eye to see that they looked about right.  I had 7 lines.  Next, I taped the spaces that were to be white.  After taping, I painted the blue stripes (2 coats).

Once I took the tape off, I applied the vinyl letters to the bottom:

The letters stuck on

I then sprayed with a finishing spray I found in the acrylic paint aisle of the craft store.  This was to make sure the paint wouldn't crack or the letters wouldn't peel off.  Then, I cut the heart out of the piece of felt.  Next, I started hot gluing the buttons onto the heart.   I found it easiest to glue a line, and then stick buttons on (instead of gluing each individual button).  Once you're done gluing on the buttons, hot glue the heart onto the canvas, and you're all done!!!  (If you look closely, I ran out of buttons!! I'll have to run back to the store this week.  Note to self - if the buttons are little, buy 2 bags!!)

The Finished Product!
